Why we're sharing this
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming part of many creative and educational workflows. We believe it's important to be open about how we use it at Hands On Primary.
Our goal has never been to produce resources as quickly as possible. Instead, we want to create thoughtful, engaging learning experiences that families and educators can trust.
AI is one of many tools we sometimes use to support that work - but it never replaces professional judgement, educational expertise or careful human review.
What we use AI for
Depending on the project, AI may assist with tasks such as:
brainstorming ideas
refining written wording
checking clarity and readability
generating early visual concepts
exploring creative possibilities
supporting administrative tasks
Like any creative tool, AI helps us experiment, organise ideas and work more efficiently.
What AI does not do
AI does not replace the educational thinking behind our resources.
Every learning pack is planned, curated and reviewed by Hands On Primary.
Important decisions - including educational content, learning progression, activity design and quality standards - are made by a qualified teacher.
We do not publish AI-generated content without careful human review.
Human oversight
Every resource is reviewed before publication.
This includes checking:
educational accuracy
age appropriateness
clarity of instructions
consistency across the pack
visual quality
overall learning experience
If something doesn't meet our standards, it isn't published.
Original creativity
Many illustrations, layouts, activities and design decisions are created entirely by hand.
Other resources may combine original work with carefully edited AI-assisted elements.
Regardless of the tools used, every published resource is intentionally selected, refined and assembled by Hands On Primary.
Accuracy and research
We believe educational resources should be trustworthy.
Where resources include historical information, artist biographies, scientific facts or other educational content, these are researched and checked before publication.
If we discover an error, we will correct it as quickly as possible.
Respecting creators
Hands On Primary values creativity and the work of artists, authors, educators and designers.
We aim to use AI responsibly and ethically while continuing to create original educational resources.
Where historical artworks, public domain images or licensed materials are included, they are credited appropriately whenever possible.
We are always looking to work with human artists, creators and designers in the future. As Hands On Primary grows, we hope to work with artists, illustrators, designers and other creative professionals whose talents help inspire children's curiosity and imagination.
Looking ahead
AI technology is evolving quickly, and so is our understanding of how it can be used responsibly.
We will continue reviewing our approach as technology develops, always with the same goal:
To create thoughtful, inspiring and carefully curated educational resources that place children's learning first.
